28/07/2010
The player who scored the winning goal in the final has decided to become a winemaker in his hometown, Fuentealbilla.

With an initial investment of €9 million Andrés Iniesta buys a bodega in his hometown.
Every time Andrés Iniesta makes a statement, his pride for his hometown Fuentealbilla clearly shines through his words. Fuentealbilla, a town located in the province of Albacete, where his family owned some vineyards and where the football player has now decided to build a bodega and make his own wine.

The wines, will take the surname „Iniesta“ of the player who scord the goal that gave the Spanish team the world championship in South Africa. The bodega expects to produce about 700,000 bottles a year. The product range varies from red wine, white wine to Rosé and will be targeted to countries such as Germany, the UK and Japan as well in the domestic market. One bottle will be around € 40.

Andrés Iniesta follows in the footsteps of other football players such as Michel, Emilio Butragueño or Manolo Sanchís, who also made the decision to invest in the wine sector.

According to the father, bodega Iniesta will aim, above all, for quality in order to stand out on the competitive wine market. Andrés is already a very big star at football, now we are curios if the wines can also connect to his worlwide success.
